Professional Tattoo Artist Training From Master Tattooers
When you attend Monolith Tattoo Academy, your professional tattoo artist training will be handled by industry veterans and well-respected tattoo artists Edward Kehoe and TeeJay Hernandez. Each of our amazing instructors boasts more than 20 years of experience tattooing and they have all tattooed in some of the biggest cities in the United States. Each instructor has a different style, allowing our Oregon tattoo school students to develop a well-rounded set of tattooing skills.
Edward opened Monolith Tattoo Studio with his wife Melanie in 2011 and since then the studio has been awarded “Best of Bend” by The Source Weekly and continues to be the front-runner in quality tattoo artwork. Edward has been tattooing since 1988 and has apprenticed under some of the greatest artists in the industry. He ran tattoo shops in Seattle, Portland, Denver and now Bend.
TeeJay is the newest instructor to join the Monolith instruction staff. He started tattooing in 1993 and specializes in bold, colorful tattoos and coverups. TeeJay’s experience covering up tattoos is a special skill that he is able to share with students at Monolith Tattoo Academy.
Bend is Paradise for Outdoor Lovers
If you’ve never been to Bend, we invite you to get to know our stunning mountain town. Outdoor recreation abounds — that means no matter which term you enroll at Monolith Tattoo Academy, you’ll be able to enjoy all that Bend and Central Oregon have to offer. From Bend’s craft brewing scene to the constantly growing list of concerts taking place at venues throughout town, you’ll love spending three months in Oregon’s playground refining your tattooing skills and enjoying the outside world.
If you enroll in the January term, spend your weekends skiing or snowboarding at Mt. Bachelor, one of the largest downhill ski resorts in the country. Is flying down a mountain not your style? There are plenty of amazing places to snowshoe or cross-country ski. Bend is known for the outdoors, but there’s something for everyone in our Central Oregon town.
Enrolling in the May session means you’ll be here for summer, and it’s hard to beat a Bend summer. Spend your free time floating the river, hanging out at one of the dozens of nearby mountain lakes, attending street festivals and concerts. If you’re spending three months in tattoo school, why not make the most of it?
Our September session allows you to enjoy Central Oregon after the peak of tourist season. See Bend the way the locals do — grab coffee at Spoken Moto, drinks at River Pig Saloon, dinner at Miyagi Ramen — all located in and near The Box Factory, where you’ll be attending Oregon tattoo school. The fall also includes fun events like Bend Roots Revival, a local, three-day music festival in Bend, Bend Fall Festival, Bend Oktoberfest and, of course, Halloween!
